Cognite started in 2000 as a web development company by Paul Mervin and Stuart Mair. Over the years it has grown to an IT team of software developers with outstanding skills and experience in web, intranet and extranet based applications.
We believe in building long-term relationships with our clients and helping them gain maximum revenue from their investments.

Paul Mervin, Managing Director
Paul has over twenty years experience in strategic information technology projects, gained with companies including Ford, IPC Magazines, James Martin Associates, Pearl Assurance and Rolls Royce. Amongst his specialist skills, he has developed multi-cultural and multi-linguistic systems for the European Commission, where he was also responsible for providing technical support for new European legislation.
Paul has a proven track record in implementing new business concepts, delivering innovative business solutions and facilitating business transition. His passion lies in working closely with clients to implement solutions that make a real difference to their business.
Since setting up Cognite in April 2000 Paul has been committed to growing a sustainable business: creating a bright, fun environment for staff and clients alike.
Stuart Mair, Projects Director
Sponsored by Barclays Bank, Stuart gained an IT degree from Salford University. On graduation he joined the graduate intake at ICI, after which he worked as a consultant for James Martin Associates, Texas Instruments Software and then CMG.
In the last twelve years Stuart has worked on projects for a diverse range of clients including BT, the DVLA, EDS, Ford Credit, the Post Office, Powergen and Zurich Insurance. His roles during this time have spanned project management and delivery, analysis, application design, development, technical architectures, training and mentoring.
Stuart set up Cognite together with Paul Mervin, assuming responsibility for 'everything to do with projects'! He has a highly pragmatic approach to the delivery of solutions and is recognised for delivering complex projects on budget and often to 'unrealistic' timescales. As Projects Director, he ensures attention to detail in the quality of the finished product. Stuart's key strengths are his commitment to projects and clients, and his ability to lead and motivate teams
